Papermaking Workshop w/ Lynn Sparks

About the Class: 

Welcome the Fall season with Paseo and learn how to create individualized paper using recycled scrap paper and botanical materials. Engage in a multi-step process that will create beautiful stationery, great for gifts, watercolor, printmaking, or handwritten letters. Guests will create a total of three 4.5" x 4.5" sheets, with color options of blue, white, and one custom color!

 About the instructor: Lynn Sparks

Lynn Sparks is the former owner/operator of Los Milagros Print Studio, an open access Studio, for thirteen years. There she hostessed several Master Printmakers, who shared their vast experience with attendees, including the late Julia Ayers, the still living Ron Pokrasso and Dan Welden. She then moved to Florida where she continued printing, and showing in a gallery in Venice, Florida. After living and participating in the local art scene there for ten years, she returned to Oklahoma to find a vital and growing printmaking scene, as well as burgeoning art community.

The Wonders of Watercolor w/ Terry Clark

About the Class:

  • Subjects will be provided, but students are welcome to paint their own subjects.

  • A brief supply list will be provided upon enrollment. High-quality watercolor paper will be provided.

The first class session will discuss supplies, composition, value sketches, color and basic techniques, followed by a brief demonstration. A brief student exercise will conclude the session.

 About the Instructor:

Terry Clark has been painting watercolor landscapes for 20 years and is a member of In Your Eye Studio & Gallery in the Paseo Arts District. He’s exhibited and sold paintings in Oklahoma, Texas and Santa Fe. Samples of his work can be viewed on his website, www.tmclarkart.com

 He believes transparent watercolor is ideal for capturing the dynamic spirit and light of Oklahoma and the Great Plains. Students will be introduced to the basic techniques and materials of watercolor, with plenty of practice. Classes will involve step-by-step lessons and demonstrations, as well as one-on-one instructions and always positive advice.

Clark has studied painting with Cletus Smith and Connie Seabourne of Oklahoma City and with nationally recognized artists Don Nice, Fran Francese, Ron Ranson, Don Andrews, Tom Lynch and G. Russell Case. His landscapes of Oklahoma, the Great Plains and the Southwest explore the influence of the brilliant light and colors from ever-changing skies. To him, the skies are a live source of light and life, fluid in an arid land.

Clark believes painting has stories to tell about our skies, brilliant colors and moods of the dramatic prairies, mountains, deserts and mesas. Clark is recognized as an excellent teacher and is a retired journalism professor at UCO in Edmond.

About the instructor: Mackenzie Brim

A lifelong artist and seasoned instructor with a passion for fostering creativity, brings over five years of teaching experience to her diverse array of students. From elementary-aged pupils to spirited individuals in their 90s, her teaching portfolio spans a variety of mediums, including watercolor, drawing, and acrylic. Mackenzie is known for her commitment to providing clear and concise instruction, ensuring that her students not only grasp artistic techniques but also find joy and fulfillment in the learning process.​ Beyond the classroom, Mackenzie is an oil painter, recognized on an international scale. Her captivating works have been showcased in exhibitions in Dallas, Houston, New York City, and Los Angeles. As a professional artist, Mackenzie's pieces have found homes in private collections around the world.
