Helen Opper will be talking more about her practice and the process of selecting the artworks in this year’s show at a special juror talk on Tuesday, March 25 at 6:00pm! The juror talk is open to the public and free, with light refreshments provided! This is a great time to meet the exhibiting artists and an opportunity for creative networking. We hope you join us!
About the juror:
Helen Opper is a fine art appraiser, advisor, curator and educator based in Oklahoma City. Opper studied art history at UC Berkeley and earned her MA in Museum Studies from New York University. Opper owns Opper Fine Art, Oklahoma’s only woman-owned appraisal firm accredited specifically in postwar, contemporary, and emerging art. In addition, she has served as an adjunct faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College since 2017, directed local gallery The Art Hall since 2016, and been heavily involved in senior leadership for Sunny Dayz Mural Fest and the Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City. Opper’s area of specialization is in modern and contemporary art with a focus on activist, feminist, and collective art practice, public art and murals, and American and European avant-gardism. In her professional roles, her goals are to work with underrepresented artists; help close the knowledge gap surrounding the business of fine art; educate about the importance of professional appraisals for artist and client advocacy; and create an inclusive framework within which her students are exposed to artistic diversity.
